How does schooling affect your mental health

Anyone who has ever gone to school can attest to the fact that it can be an extremely challenging experience. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, schooling can be a very stressful experience. This is because school requires students to pay attention and focus in a rigorous environment.

16 ways by which schooling can affect your mental health

  1. Lack of social support from classmates can lead to anxiety and depression
  2. According to Mental Health America, students who have low self-esteem are more likely to have mental health problems. This is because they tend to compare themselves to their classmates, and feel inferior when they don’t measure up.
  3. Struggling with difficult material can lead to feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression.
  4. Feeling overwhelmed by the amount of information in a class can lead to feeling stressed and overwhelmed.
  5. Experiencing bullying or being made fun of in school can lead to feeling isolated and stressed.
  6. Feeling like you don’t have any friends at school can lead to feeling lonely and stressed.
  7. Struggling with homework can lead to feeling overwhelmed and stressed.
  8. Having tight deadlines that you feel unable to meet can lead to feelings of stress and

  13. When you’re constantly being asked to do homework that is outside of your comfort zone, it can be difficult for you focus on the material being taught in class.
  14. Students who have poor sleep habits are often the ones who struggle with concentration and memory during school years.
